Imagine an ethical future for AI

AI coding is putting the power to build real tools into far more hands, including a generation of boys and young men. With EndTAB, we're working to make sure what gets built is safe, healthy, and equitable.

What's at stake

AI coding is growing faster than any software category before it. One leading company went from $100 million to $2 billion in annual revenue in under two years. Users are flooding to the technology which enables the everyday person with the power to code websites, apps, security programs, and more. Yet, these users are arriving without ethical frameworks, guidelines, or training. While AI-generated code can absolutely be used for positive pursuits, it can also build tools that produce abusive content, including nonconsensual sexual imagery, and carry bias forward at scale.

$10b

The AI coding tools market is on track to exceed $10 billion in annual revenue.

95%

Microsoft's Chief Technology Officer predicts AI will generate 95% of all code by 2030.

>70%

Men hold more than 70% of jobs in the global AI workforce, shaping the tools everyone else uses.

3m+

More than 3 million new developers join GitHub every month, and nearly 80% start using AI coding tools in their first week.

Engineering culture has a history of bias and restrictive masculinity. Without intentional action now, those patterns can replicate at a global scale, built into the very apps and tools the next generation creates. — Adam Dodge, EndTAB

Our Innovation

With End Tech-Enabled Abuse (EndTAB), LinkUp Lab has launched the "Ground Floor Coding Project" to ensure this rapidly developing technology is informed by healthy, safe, and ethical principles from the ground-up.

The Misuse-by-Design Scanner

Our version of a security scanner that reviews AI-generated code for features that harm by design choice, not by accident. By flagging design that reinforces isolation, pathologizes healthy development, and suppresses help-seeking, we can help a new generation of websites and apps get built around inclusive and pro-social values.

The Builder's Residency

Cohorts where participants build real tools on AI-coding platforms, guided by ethical frameworks, and with the goal of creating solutions around young men's connection, wellbeing, and healthy relationships. Cohorts will culminate in demo days showcasing what pro-social, ethical AI development looks like in practice.

Pro-Social Coding Clubs

As AI-assisted coding has grown, coding clubs in middle schools, high schools, and colleges have begun to pop up. Ground Floor will partner with these groups and support new ones with curriculum and facilitation guides — built around the ethics scanner and designed to treat misuse by design with the same seriousness as security flaws.

Platform Partnerships

AI coding platforms are where these decisions get made at scale. Ground Floor will work directly with platform providers to bring misuse-by-design foresight, safety guidance, and prosocial features into the tools themselves, so that ethical guardrails reach builders everywhere.
